By default lassplit split a combined LAS file into its original, individual flight lines by splitting based on the point source ID of the points. Other options are to split '-by_classification', '-by_gps_time_interval 100', '-by_x_interval 15.5', '-by_y_interval 2.5', '-by_z_interval 11.5', '-by_intensity_interval 10', '-by_scan_angle_interval 5', '-by_user_data_interval 16', '-by_attribute_interval 0 0.5' or '-by_attribute_interval 1 1.0' Instead of splitting LAS/LAZ/BIN/ASCII files based on these listed attributes they can also be split into many numbered files that each contain the same number of points (except for the last one) with the '-split 100000000' option, which would split each time after 100 million points were written. The header information from the first file (e.g. VLRs, scale factor offset, ...) is used for each written output file while these LAS header attributes are updated: * number_of_point_records * number_of_points_by_return[5] * max_x, min_x, max_y, min_y, max_z, and min_z In case the '-merged' option is used, it may become necessary to change the x_scale_factor, y_scale_factor, z_scale_factor and/or the x_offset, y_offset, z_offset, values.
